    Description

This is a vintage wood GARCIA Y VEGA cigar humidor box.
It probably dates circa 1940s or 1950s, based on the Cigar Revenue tax stamp.
    The box measures 4 5/8 inches tall x 6 5/8 inches wide x 6 1/8 inches deep (11.7 cm x 16.8 cm x 15.5 cm).
I would say this box is in good condition given its age. There are some small tears on the stamps. The lock works well. There is a small humidor insert inside.
Please use the photos as your guide.
It weighs just under 14 ounces (392 g).

I found the following on cigar history.info They have the full history of Cigar Revenue stamps on their website.
Another 1942 change was the addition of two tax classes, F and G, revising all others. Class A becomes “up to 2 1/2¢ each” and Class B “more than 2 1/2¢ but not more than 4¢.” Nickel cigars became Class C (4¢ to 6¢). Class D covered cigars selling for “more than 6¢ but not more than 8¢” (2/15¢ cigars mostly). Class E was now 8¢ to 15¢, Class F cigars sold between 15¢ and 20¢, and the new Class G was reserved for high price cigars selling for more than 20¢ each. In the 1940’s and 50’s, that meant Cuban cigars or the better domestic cigars made of imported Cuban tobacco.
Series numbers usually changed in the Spring so you will find cancellations that are off by a year from the Series number. The last Series to be printed on stamps was Series 125 (1955) which was used for four years.
