    Description

This is an early Mason’s Jar made by the Port company.
It is aqua to clear and is 7” tall with a mouth opening of 2 ½”.
    It is in excellent condition.
The front of the Jar says MASON’S PATENT 1858 and the pack has the PORT name written in cursive.
This particular jar has a Ball zinc lid with ceramic interior.
    It fits the jar well.
There is some writing on top of the lid.
Please see all photos for details.
These jars were made by the Port Glass Co.
This jar was probably made in 1902 or 1903 at their Belleville, Illinois plant. In 1904 E.B. Ball bought out Port Company and moved the entire factory to Coffeyville, Kansas.
The cursive Port embossed on the jars was changed to the Ball cursive design over the next couple of years at that factory.
