Description
Offered for your consideration is a nicely-preserved vintagePARKER
Model
45
fountain pen, made in the USA c.1967. The Model 45 was unveiled in 1960 and was positioned between the flagship Model 51 and budget 21 in PARKER’s lineup. It also introduced PARKER’s ink converter along with the new
Quink
disposable ink cartridges to the mass market, and was to become one of PARKER’s all-time leading sellers!
This Model 45 features a metal alloy cap over Vista Blue (turquoise) plastic barrel with gold-plated clip, clutch ring, and cap tassie—which collectors refer to as a GT (gold trim)—and the nib is gold, likely 14K.
So, please have a look at the large photos I’ve taken and read the remaining description to decide if this splendid PARKER 45 should join your collection.
This PARKER 45 is in clean, excellent condition. It measures 5⅜” long with cap on (5⅝” with cap posted atop) x about ½” wide at center thickest. There are no dings or scratches on the cap or barrel, just the expected light desktop marks and minor plastic dulling from sparing, careful adult use over the years. Plus, the trim plating looks great and the PARKER trademark clip rests tight against the cap. This old PARKER fountain pen presents exceptionally well to both eye and touch.
What’s more, the nib appears to be fine point but is not visibly marked. The pen takes PARKER
Quink
ink cartridges or the included,
original converter
for bottle-filling. I’ve also given the pen a thorough cool water rinse to free the residual ink from nib, cap, and converter. Though I haven’t written with it, the nib looks to be in nice shape with
minimal
splitting of the tines. Plus, I’ll include a PARKER
Quink
cartridge so the new owner can put the pen into action right away, if they’d like! And, as you probably know, Model 45’s have good balance, ample mass, and feel very nice in the hand—somebody is going to be very happy with this fine old pen!
As pictured and described, this exceptional PARKER Model 45 fountain pen is offered at a competitive price.
