    Description

DESCRIPTION:  Listing for Two Related Cobalt Blue and Yellow Antique Venetian Millefiori Elbow Trade Beads.  The first XLg & Xwide bead has a murrine w/ Bullseye cobalt blue & white pattern, surrounded by yellow glass in the hard to find elbow shape.  The second Huge longer elbow bead has a murrine w/ Bullseye cobalt blue & white pattern, with fancy blue then yellow Chevron layers, surrounded by cobalt blue glass.
    The
murrina were laid, heated & worked onto a drawn glass core- in this case an unusual cobalt blue color core.
These are not identical beads but are a wonderful compliment to each other, with matching colors, matching bullseyes.  Date from late 1800's to early 1900's.
The Bulls Eye or "Eye" Bead is thought to have a protective effect for the wearer against the "evil eye" or other ills and is variously represented throughout the World in many Cultures.
SIZES: Bead #1:  ~44mm at longest X 14mm widest.  Elbow shaped bead.
Bead #2:  ~57mm at longest X 13mm widest.  Elbow shaped bead.
    CONDITION:
    Beads
    are in very good condition.
These are circulated Antique Trade Beads, and show some surface wear, as expected, but are in above average condition.
No Cracks.  Tiny end chipping is normal in circulated Trade Beads.
    Overall very nice.
Note the irregularities at the ends can be the visible murrine sections as they are pieced onto the drawn glass core.
