This rare matching set was recently acquired at an estate auction of a longtime collector in Western Illinois.
It is appealing, desirable & collectible.
Offered is a beautiful Hummel U.S. Zone Germany humidor tobacco jar & matching ashtrays decorated with wingless cherubs.
This lovely tobacco jar features 2 cherubs on the lid sitting on a small patch of grass. Flip the lid over & there is the opening where you are suppose to put a sponge. Wet the sponge, wring it out, slip it in & it will keep your tobacco fresh.
Each ashtray has 2 cherubs sitting on the back of the ashtray. One is holding a flower & the other has a butterfly on its raised arm. Good colors & attractive decorations adds to the appeal of this vintage set.
Each piece has the Hummel incised crown mark. The jar also has an incised mark fo D.F. 11. The ashtrays have incised marks R.F.118. All of the pieces are stamped U.S. Zone Germany. They also have an importer stamp from Pauls Gifts E.P.P. & Co. New York.
We present this piece exactly as it was when acquired. No attempts to clean this item have been made. It shows little wear as seen in the photos. There are no chips or cracks. However there is some crazing. This will make a great addition to any home or serious
collection.
