Vintage Stallion 41-40 cap gun by
Nichols Industries, Jacksonville, Texas in1958. Complete with original 6 two-piece Nichols .38 size cartridges that fit into the flip-out cylinder. Beautiful and abundant Nimschke style scrollwork on bright, triple-plated chrome finish. (Louis Daniel Nimschke was a master firearms
engraver
oft he 19th century.) Grips are marbled staghorn plastic with a unique beige tint. Double Action revolver with cylinder revolving with every trigger pull. Excellent condition – no chips, cracks or gauges anywhere. See photos for best description. There is some slight cap residue behind the cylinder on the right-hand side where “Nichols” is embossed – see photo.

The Stallion 41 – 40
, manufactured by Nichols Industries, Inc., Jacksonville, Texas in 1958. This rare, die cast cap pistol is a double-action revolver with triple-plated chrome finish, elegant Nimschke style scrollwork and staghorn, plastic grips. It has a unique right-hand side, flip-out cylinder– not the standard Smith & Wesson left side. The cylinder falls out by pushing down the thumb lever on the right side behind the cylinder. Once out, push the knurled rod on the front of the flip-out assembly toward the rear of the gun and all the bullets are ejected simultaneously. The cylinder holds 6two-piece, zinc & brass cartridges. When loaded with a round, paper cap between the zinc bullet and brass casing and fired, the blast propels smoke through a pinhole tunnel in the bullet and out the barrel. This pistol was inspired by the popular 44 – 40 Colts in shape, scrollwork and grips. But the unusual right-hand side, flip-out cylinder was a Talley Nichols innovation.
