The Mac Internet Tour Guide—About the Files on This Disk
The installer automatically installs these items in the appropriate locations on your startup disk:
•   MacTCP is a Control Panel that allows your Macintosh to communicate with other computers
using the TCP/IP protocols on the Internet. This installer also installs a preferences file that
has been customized for use with CERFnet’s DialnCERF USA.
•   InterSLIP is a Control Panel and extension that allow you to establish a connection to the
Internet with a modem and an ordinary telephone line.
•   Eudora is an e-mail program
•   TurboGopher allows you to browse through information resources on the Internet, translating
complicated menu structures into familiar folder and file icons.
•   StuffIt Expander is a file decompression program that you’ll need for the files and other
software resources you download from various sites on the Internet.
•   ZTerm is a general-purpose telecommunications program and includes settings and an auto-login
script you can use to activate your DialnCERF USA account.
How to Install the Software
All of the software program files are contained in a customized installer program and will be automatically installed in their proper locations.
Selecting the default “Standard Install” option will install all of the software included with the Mac Internet Tour Guide. In most cases, this is your best choice, because any existing preferences files will not be overwritten.
If you want to install only a single program and its associated files, you can select one of the “Custom Install” options. A separate “Custom Install” option is provided for each piece of software included with the Mac Internet Tour Guide.
Important Notes
Configuration instructions—and settings files—are included for use with CERFnet’s DialnCERF USA. Your Internet service provider or network administrator will provide you with configuration instructions for MacTCP and InterSLIP. Do not attempt to configure these programs yourself unless you are sure you know what you’re doing.
