You are looking at a relevant piece of software from the 1990's: COLORADO BACKUP. It was included with almost any kind of tape backup drive. I remember using it on everything from a parallel port tape drive to a (then) top-of-the-line HP SureStore tape drive. The insert specifically states "SCSI interface" under the System Requirements. If you have anything OTHER than a true SCSI tape drive, you're going to have to install the drivers for your drive BEFORE installing this app. The drivers should make your drive appear as a SCSI device and this software should then recognize it.
THIS SOFTWARE DOES NOT RUN ON WINDOWS 10 or 11!!
I have not installed, nor attempted to install, this on anything other than an old Windows 98SE laptop I had laying around. If you have a vintage computer, this is a PERFECT addition to your software collection! The first version was written by Colorado Memory Systems, specifically for their tape drives. However, it was SO good and properly written that most hardware company's drives were compatible out of the box. As such, most companies included a free copy of Colorado Backup with their drive to ensure a pleasant experience.
