    Description

This replica gun contains the colored markings required by law, including a permanently attached orange plug.  Also, the cap gun is a toy and cannot fire projectiles.
This auction is for a First Model Gene Autry Champion cap gun produced by Leslie-Henry.  It is a die cast cap gun approximately 9" long.  It has a nickel finish and ivory grips.  This first model has the extra-heavy frame.  It weighs approximately 14 oz. while the later models of this and other similar Leslie-Henry cap guns weigh approximately 9 0z.
This cap gun is in excellent condition.  When the trigger is pulled, the hammer moves back and then forward with a strong snap.  The nickel finish has only three significant blemishes, two on the cylinder on each side and one at the end of the barrel (see pictures 1 and 2).  The grips are replacement grips, true to the original cap gun, and without any cracks or chips.  As far as I can tell all parts other than the grips are original to this cap gun.
One additional note: I believe that this Gene Autry cap gun is named Champion because that was the name of Autry's horse.  Also, it is listed in the Gene Autry section of Jim Schleyer's book.
