    Description

    A
    Parker Challenger fountain pen
in very good-looking and lustrous burgundy & black marbled pearl resin. Another decadent gem from the seller's shrinking family trove of antique fountain pens!
Seller thinks this pen to be 80 or more years old. In fact, it appears there is a tiny
    date code
at the end of the made in U.S.A. line, that looks like a dot 0 dot with another dot below the 0. So a 0 surrounded on the east, west, and south sides by single dots.
If other manufacturing date or other codes appear anywhere else, seller does not see them.
This pen features push button fill beneath its removable end cap. Push button mechanism seems to work, however
    pen needs new ink sac/bladder
. Barrel and cap Interiors appear clean.
Clear barrel imprint reads "Parker Challenger, Made in U.S.A, By Parker Pen Co., Janesville Wis."
Nib imprint reads " Parker Pen made in USA" Nib metal is not otherwise stamped or marked so far as seller can see.
Pointed pocket clip reads "Parker." (It appears the pointed clip is also useful in dating these pens.) Most of clip gold plating is worn off; substrate metal appears to be brass.
Cap has one gold-plated band or ring; about half of ring  gold plating is worn off.
Pen nib seems to write fine to extra fine. Writing shown in photograph was made with the pen by dipping it into pen ink in a bottle, quill-pen fashion. Ink was rinsed off and the pen dried.
Pen is 5 inches long closed, 5-7/8 inches long as capped/posted to write. It is clean, with no cracks, chips, teeth marks, or personal engravings. Pen does show normal usage wear to barrel and cap, and is of course
    offered "as-is."
Seller has enjoyed the romance of signing checks, cards, and notes with fountain pens yet is
    NOT
a fountain pen expert, collector, restorer, or appraiser, so has described this pen here to the best of his knowledge and ability.
Please see my photographs, taken in both natural and indoor lighting, as they complete the description of this pen.  Ask questions if you have them, and if you desire an addiitonal photo(s), please let us know and we'll see what we cn do!
