    Description

Ancient Cobalt Blue Russian Trade Beads. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS First Class.
Russian explorers traded Blue Russian Beads to the Native Americans in Alaska and Canada starting in the 1700s. Their appeal lies in their Cobalt Blue color and their faceted appearance. Blue Russian Beads likely originated in Czechoslovakia. Russian traders may have purchased them directly from traders in Europe, or possibly from the Hudson Bay Company.
This strand contains 75 assorted beads including three opaque dutch trade beads. Most beads are hand faceted and tubular though some rounds. There are a few superb examples of faceting; possible as good as i have encountered. Beads range from a deep cobalt to a translucent blue. These beads are in remarkable shape especially given the age indicate by the patina on many beads.
The avid collector will undoubtedly delight in examining each bead individually as each is indeed unique.
Beads range from 12-18mm in length and 11-15mm in width. The overall strand is around 35cm long ( 70 cm laid end to end)
