There is some age wear, pitting and small chips in some of the beads; all have a nice smooth patina. They are in overall good condition considering their age and travels and will make a great addition to any collection. The photos show the actual beads you will receive. No additional accessories are included.
Description:
This mixed lot of 49 Venetian Millefiori African Trade Beads is from the late 19th - early 20th century. The beads are brightly multi-colored in various mosaic & geometric patterns in solid glass. The beads are approximately 10mm-13mm in diameter and range in length from 0.375" to 0.75" (19mm). They are strung on raffia cord (which is not antique), although because of the handmade process the size of each one varies as can be seen in the photos. The total strand length is approx. 34".

- Dutch traders were the first Europeans to bring Venetian millefiori beads to West Africa in the late 1400's. The beads were held in high regard by several tribes and were often used as a form of currency. Millefiori beads of this era are still sought after by collectors worldwide.
