Used. There is some age wear, pitting and small chips in some of the beads; all have a nice smooth patina. They are in overall good condition considering their age and travels, and will make a great addition to any collection. The photos show the actual beads you will receive. No additional accessories (or the U.S. quarter) are included.

(22) Antique Venetian Millefiori Glass African Trade Beads
Specifications:
This 27-inch strand of Antique Venetian/Murano Millefiori Glass African trade beads (22 beads total) is from the late 19th - early 20th century. The beads are multi-colored in various mosaic "watermelon" patterns; red, white, blue, black and yellow with solid black glass centers. They are strung on a cotton cord (which is not antique). The beads range in length from approximately 1" (27mm) to 1.35" (34mm), and are approximately 0.45" (11.5mm) in diameter. However, because of the handmade process the exact size of each one varies slightly.

- Dutch traders were the first Europeans to bring Venetian millefiori beads to West Africa in the late 1400's. The beads were held in high regard by several tribes and were often used as a form of currency. Millefiori beads of this era are still sought after by collectors worldwide.
